There are many rare cancers, but in this article I will be focusing on Mesothelioma. Mesothelioma is a lung cancer. Rare lung cancers are a generic term of malignant neoplasms arising from uncontrolled growth of generically mutated cells in lung tissue. For those who don't really know what cancer is I will explain it. Cancer is when a cell or group of cells grow beyond normal limits withing the human body. These cells invade to destruct adjacent tissues. Sometimes cancer can even spread to other locations of the body or in the blood.
The causes of cancer are chemicals, ionizing, radiation, infection or either hereditary. There are also ways of preventing cancer, but its not certain. The things that can possible prevent cancers would be not using tobacco, not being overweight or obese, having a low fruit and vegetable intake, physical inactivity, the use of alcohol, an STI or air pollution. The modifiable factors would be dieting, taking vitamins, generic testing, chemoprevention, vaccination & screening.
The classification of lung cancer is squamous cell carcinoma, small cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, large cell carcinoma, adenosquamous carcinoma, sarcomatoid carcinoma, carcinoid tumor and salivary gland- like carcinoma.
There are many management options for cancer patients. They include chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery, immunotherap, monoclonal antibody therapy and other methods. The options available depend on the location and the grade of the tumor as well as the stage of the disease. The main goal of any cancer management or treatment would be complete removal of the cancer without any damage to the rest of the body. Since cancer refers to a class of diseases it is known to be a small chance that there will ever be a cure for it.
Mesothelioma. I've been hearing this word alot lately and I've decided to do alittle research on it. There are many lawsuits that have arised because of people being exposed to asbestos. Mesothelioma and asbestos are basically the same thing. People that have been exposed to asbestos have mesothelioma. Mesothelioma develops from the protective lining that coversmany of the body's interal organs. It is usually caused by the expore of asbestos.
Studies have shown that people have developed mesothelioma have worked on jobs where hey have inhaled asbestos. Unlike any other lung cancer there has been no association between mesothelioma and smoking.
